ANB Systems Private Limited, the offshore development center of ANB Systems, Inc. organized a hackathon for Chennai Employees on theme ‘Data Driven Insights and User Experience’ with an emphasis on Design Thinking to empower innovation. Thirteen teams of 5 to 7 members spent their time on their first two working days of 2020 to come up with new ideas, develop a prototype overnight, and present their solutions. ANB invited judges with a wide range of experience and from various industry backgrounds, ranging from healthcare to oil & gas as well as start-ups to large corporations.
The presentations and demos were conducted in two rounds. In the first round, each team was given a dedicated station in the Chennai office, and 13 judges rotated from one station to next in fixed time intervals to learn more about the solutions developed by each team during the hackathon. The top three teams advanced to the second round, where they delivered a longer presentation to the entire staff and judge panel. The hackathon experience was a great kickstart to the new year – the hackathon made ANB’s employees not only think, but also evoked a team spirit. “ANB wore a festive happy look”, said Raghunath Ramaswamy, President of Spectrum Consulting.
“There were so many interesting projects and innovative ideas, if it were up to me, they would have ALL won! You have a very smart and talented team at ANB, and I appreciate how well organized and perfectly timed the entire event was”, said Aishwarya .C, a Software Engineer at Splunk, and one of the judges on the panel.
Mahesh Balan, CEO of Pravici, said that “It was wonderful to see the very considerable talents at display in your company.”
The innovations solve critical business challenges with advanced technologies including Big Data, Machine Learning, and AI. “Several ideas are merit worthy to pursue and I want to revisit the presentations in a more leisurely manner. We will embrace some or all the ideas that came out of the hackathon into our mainstream product development.”, said Mr. Abhishek Balakrishnan, President of ANB Systems, Inc., summing up the overall hackathon experience.
