Rapid increases in the adoption of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and demand-side management programs has resulted in an increase in volume of projects. This rise has left some utilities in a conundrum due to a lack of a comprehensive analysis to aid them with improved business processes to better respond to the market. Challenges include a spike in volume of incoming projects, adoption of evolving legacy systems, process lifecycle duration, and importantly, the analysis of complex data. In regards to distributed generation business process, the issuance of permission to operate (PTO) for consumers opting renewable interconnection increases the complexity of back-office operations.
