Utilities have varying business processes due to differences in operational structure and in authorities. Thus, there is no
one-size-fits-all system to track energy efficiency and demand-side management programs. Technology providers require extensive collaboration among all stakeholders for requirements gathering and for the creation of an action plan to adopt a new system to improve business operations workflow. It is critical for the technology provider to understand the portfolio and carefully consider every aspect of the business process including the number of programs, measures under the program, and stakeholder mapping for smoother transition. Therefore, the scope of work is assessed with the stakeholders in the utility and the action plan to restructure the business process is rolled out in the form of a storyboard.
